Loving what we are doing…

Juli & Julie Construction Diva's
Found our way to the construction site this morning and met up with Pablo. I worked with Pablo last spring and remembered him well. He is one of the hardest working men in construction I have ever met. He works quick and quiet. Pablo does not speak much English my understanding of Spanish has improved enough to get by, my speech, well in time…Let’s just say it made for a fun morning of “Mas. No mas” (more and no more).

Pablo had Jewles & I get to work on more walls and in no time flat we whipped out several. Every muscle in our body was screaming out in pain from gripping and swinging the hammers so much. We must have pounded a thousand nails if we pounded one. We walked away from the job site at lunch time lame and exhausted.

The funny part about it, for both of us was as much as our arms, neck, back and legs throbbed we felt this overwhelming sense of fulfillment. We had a couple of weepy moments when it began to sink in just how hard we had both worked to get to this place, and how hard we were working to help a stranger. It is a simple act of kindness that makes this world we live in more bearable.

This afternoon after building several walls, window frames and prepping concrete molds, I looked over to Julie and noticed on her wrist a bracelet that read, “love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.  It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.  Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.  It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.”

We recited it allowed together and spoke of the passage in the bible I couldn’t help but notice Pablo’s smile. I truly love this place, these people, and I love knowing that this simple act of kindness allows for more love to fester and grow so others can have and enjoy what I already have and know.
Team Jules Rules!
